✒️ Fine Line Tattoo Aftercare

Your new tattoo might be delicate and dainty, but it still needs proper care! Fine line tattoos heal a little differently than bold or filled-in ones, so here’s everything you need to know to keep it looking crisp and beautiful. Please follow the guide below to help your skin heal safely and prevent fading or irritation.

💨 Right After Your Appointment

  • Your skin may feel slightly tender or look a little red — this is completely normal.

  • I’ll apply a protective film or dressing after your tattoo is done. Leave it on for a few hours, or overnight if advised.

  • Wash your hands before touching your tattoo — always!

🧼 First Clean (After Removing Film)

  • Gently wash the area with lukewarm water and a mild, unscented soap (like Simple or Sanex).

  • Pat dry with a clean towel or allow to air dry — don’t rub.

  • Apply a thin layer of tattoo balm or a gentle fragrance-free moisturiser (like Hustle Butter, Bepanthen, or Aveeno).

💧 General Healing Tips (First 7–14 Days)

  • Keep it clean and moisturised 2–3 times a day.

  • Avoid soaking the tattoo — no baths, swimming, hot tubs or saunas.

  • No heavy workouts or sweaty gym sessions for at least 48 hours.

  • Do not scratch or pick at your tattoo – this can affect the lines and cause scarring or patchiness.

  • Your tattoo may flake or lightly peel like a sunburn — this is normal!

☀️ Sun & Skin Protection

  • No sunbeds or sunbathing on or near the area during healing (ideally avoid for 4 weeks).

  • Once fully healed, apply SPF 30+ on your tattoo if it’s exposed to sunlight — fine lines can fade faster than bold designs.

  • Avoid fake tan near the area while it’s healing.

🚫 What Not To Do

  • Don’t apply Vaseline, Sudocrem or petroleum-based products (they clog pores).

  • Don’t wear tight clothing that may rub against the tattooed area.

  • Avoid makeup over the area while healing.

💡 Long-Term Love for Fine Lines

  • Fine line tattoos are more delicate by nature and may need a touch-up over time, especially in high-friction or sun-exposed areas.

  • Avoid exfoliating scrubs or harsh acids over the tattoo.

  • Keep skin moisturised to prevent premature fading.

🚨When to Reach Out
If you notice excessive swelling, pus, a rash, or anything that doesn’t seem quite right — please get in touch with me or a medical professional. It’s always better to be safe.

✨ Laser Tattoo Removal Aftercare

Thanks for trusting me with your laser tattoo removal journey! To get the best results and keep your skin happy and healthy, please follow the guidance below. Healing varies from person to person, but good aftercare can help reduce the risk of side effects and may even mean fewer sessions overall. Win-win!

💥 Immediately After Treatment

  • The area may feel warm, look red, or slightly swollen — this is totally normal.

  • You might also notice slight blistering, crusting or scabbing in the days following treatment — again, normal!

  • I’ll apply aloe vera gel and a sterile dressing before you leave. Keep this dressing on for at least a few hours (or overnight if possible).

❄️ First 24–48 Hours

  • Apply cool compresses to reduce swelling and soothe the area (avoid ice directly on the skin).

  • Do not pick or scratch at any scabs or blisters – let them heal naturally.

  • If needed, continue applying aloe vera gel or a fragrance-free healing ointment.

  • Avoid soaking the area (no baths, swimming, hot tubs, etc).

  • No exercise, sweating or saunas for 48 hours – sorry gym bunnies!

💧 Ongoing Aftercare (First 7 Days)

  • Keep the area clean and dry.

  • Apply aloe vera or a gentle moisturiser 2–3 times a day to soothe and hydrate.

  • Avoid tight clothing or anything that might rub on the treated area.

  • No sun exposure or tanning – this is so important!

☀️ Tanning & Sun Exposure

  • No tanning (natural or sunbeds) on or around the tattoo area for at least 2 weeks before AND 4 weeks after each session.

  • Sun exposure can cause pigmentation changes and increase your risk of complications.

  • Use SPF 30+ daily once healed, especially if the area is exposed to sunlight.

😣 Is It Painful After?

  • You may experience tenderness or a slight burning sensation for a couple of days.

  • Cool compresses and aloe vera can help a lot.

  • If needed, you can take paracetamol, but avoid ibuprofen or aspirin as they can increase bruising.

📆 When Can I Come Back?

  • You’ll need to wait at least 6 weeks between laser sessions.

  • If you had a patch test or it’s your first session, we’ll wait 48 hours to check for any reaction before we go ahead with treatment.

🧬 How Does It Work?

  • Your body’s lymphatic system works to break down and flush out the shattered ink particles.

  • Staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol, not smoking, and eating well can all help speed this up!

🚩 What to Watch Out For

  • Redness, swelling, and light bruising are normal.

  • If you notice signs of infection (like pus, excessive heat or increasing pain), please contact me or a healthcare professional.
